Student Organization Grant (SOG)

Student organizations have up to $4,500 they can request for through their event submissions.

This grant is subject to following university policies and procedures surrounding food, decorations, speaker fees and travel, campus security, and audio visual support and more .

Eligibility requirements:  

• Must be a Registered Student Organization in The Spot 
• Event is approved in The Spot  
• Must be in good standing 
• Activities are on a first come first serve basis  
• Funding is used towards events and programs - not just regular meetings  
   

Food

• This includes both IUPUI food vendors (Chartwells catering) and non-IUPUI food vendors.  
• Food purchase will be limited to $20.00 per IUPUI student per day, no exceptions.  
• The committee reserves the right to revote funding if the maximum food per person is violated.  
• Student organizations do not pay taxes for food from Chartwells so please ensure your quote/invoice is correct.  
• The cost of linens, drinks and applicable service charges will be covered when utilizing Chartwells .
• The cost of linens and applicable service charges will not be covered from any other vendor .
• Reimbursements for drinks are strictly limited to Coca-Cola licensed products only.
  

Decorations

• Anything purchased from Amazon must be purchased by the CCSE office.  

Speaker Fees and Travel Fees

• A request must be submitted 60 days in advance of the event/ program date if the organization is requesting funding for speaker fees and travel.  
• All speakers must bundle all expenses (airfare, lodging, per diem, fee) into one invoice as we will not book travel for speakers.  

Campus Security

• Some events may require the use of campus security; this is on a case-by-case basis and depends on the location and the nature of the event/program for an additional charge.  

Audio Visual

• Event/programs being held on campus can utilize support services available through the Campus Center, Event and Conference Services, and other On-Campus venues for an additional charge.

Club Sports

• Can receive funding for equipment, uniforms (under the condition that they are in compliance with IU branding standards for self-governed student organizations (SGSOs), practice fees (i.e. field time), and other sports related costs. 

Awards

• Award purchases that are not convertible to cash are permitted.  
• Must abide by university policies governing award recipients. 

• Honoraria, salaries or wages to IU enterprise staff and/or students for presenting/ participating in student activities, organizations, or athletics (excluding campus security)
• Charities, scholarships, donations, or any form of organizational/ personal gain
• Gifts of any kind; such as gift cards, cash, or awards that can be easily converted to cash, Personal subscriptions and/or memberships; group memberships  
• Alcoholic beverages and/or any illegal substances/ paraphernalia
• Off-campus advertising (postage), any photography and/or any videography expenses  
• Contributions or expenditures in connection with any political campaign (including primaries) on behalf of any candidate for public office, or financial support of any kind to organizations whose activities consist substantially of lobbying or other activities designed to influence legislation 
• Direct or indirect support of litigation against the University 
• Club Sports travel
